Job opportunities for students after 12th in the govt. sector

SSC GD Constable

Under the central armed police forces (CAPF), there are jobs for general duty constables etc under the staff selection commission. these jobs consist of a training period of about 10 to 11 months for those who are interested. Students who have passed their 10th and 12th standards and are 18 years or older can apply for this job profile.

The age limit of the course is till 23 years of age. It is not an easy job to hold and should be pursued by those who are really devoted towards their nation. The selection procedure consists of 4 rounds of exams – 

  • The online entrance exam
  • The physical efficiency test (PET) 
  • The physical standard test (PST) 
  • Finally, the medical examination. 

Forest Guard

we can guess by the name that the responsibility of a forest guard is to look after the well being and safety of the forests in which they have been posted. Students after passing their high school can apply for the post of forest officer or guard. The age range for applying is between 18 and 40. The process of selection in this job includes 3 rounds of tests- 

  • Written exam round 
  • Physical exam round and

The written exam consists of basic knowledge of primary subjects like English, maths, general awareness, Hindi, and knowledge about forests. 

SSC stenographer

In the staff selection commission, the job of a stenographer basically is to brief conferences and speeches and is also known as a shorthand. This job consists of mainly typing work and also helps in public relations. Students after class 12th can apply for this opportunity in the government sector and there is no specific stream or marks required to pursue this. The only skill you need to learn for this profile is stenography.

There are 2 grades namely Grade D and Grade C in this job. For applying for the post of a Grade D stenographer, the age range should be between 18 to 27 and for that of a Grade C stenographer, it is 18 to 30 years. The selection procedure consists of a written examination round and a stenography skill test.

Railway Clerk, TT/TC

Students after passing their 12th class from any stream can apply for the post of a TT/TC which is the post of a ticket checker or a railway clerk. The age range for applying for this job post is between 18 to 30 years of age. The average salary for these posts ranges from INR 30,000 to 35000 monthly.

The job roles which are included in this job are that of posting in booking office, parcel offices, goods warehouses or ticket reservation offices and checking. There are 4 levels of the selection process which include- 

  • Computer-based test 1(CBT) 
  • Computer-based test 2 level 
  • Medical examination level 
  • Document verification level

The basic subjects tested in the examination rounds are general awareness, intelligence, mathematics, and logical reasoning.

SSC CHSL

the staff selection commission conducts exams of the higher secondary level. This exam is a well-known exam under the government sector for which a lot of students apply. There are some job opportunities available under this exam- 

  • Data entry operator (DEO)
  • Sorting Assistant (SA) 
  • Lower-division clerk (LDC) And 
  • Upper-division clerk (UDC) 

Students after passing their 12th standard can apply for these posts by preparing for the CHSL exam which also includes a 3 level selection process – 

  • Online exam 
  • Descriptive exam 
  • Computer aptitude test 

The age range for applying is 18 to 27 years 

Airforce Airmen 

This is a really interesting job field that consists of Grade X and Grade Y levels of posts. Grade X job consists of all the technical work and the eligibility for the same is that the candidate should be a 12th pass with necessary subjects being maths, English and physics with a minimum score of 50%. Grade Y is a job profile that is not based on the technicalities of this field so the eligibility criterion does not hold requirements for any specific field or stream of study but the candidates should have a minimum score of 50%.

The job profiles are only for male candidates and require an age range of 16 to 21 years. There are 5 levels in the selection process- 

  • Online written exam 
  • verification of Documents
  • physical examination

  • Adaptation exams 

Special class railway apprentice exams (discontinued) 

The SCRA has now been discontinued by the railway department, so the exam is no longer available but the job roles which came under it are still available under the engineering services exams.
